From the Executive Director

July 2022

You may be aware that AAP - Food Samaritans increased the amount of client grocery vouchers from $100 per month to $150 per month back in 2019. Now, inflation has largely offset that increase, leaving our clients essentially where they were. So much for our good intentions. It seems that the most needful among us are always getting the short end of the stick. But you can help!

Summer is the most difficult time of the year for us and for our clients. Our clients are struggling with rising food costs and high utilities to keep cool while AAP sees a downturn in donations.

One way you can lend your support to AAP (and have a great time doing it) is to attend our upcoming Independence Day Celebration on July 4 at the Historic O’Donnell House, which is located on the mountain behind the PS Art Museum, 'floating' above the desert floor. The event begins at 7 pm and provides a fantastic opportunity to view the City of Palm Springs’ fireworks display at 9:15 pm. Our guests will be treated to flowing cocktails and a fabulous dinner catered by Willie Rhine and his team at Eight4Nine. You can learn more about the event HERE

If you're unable to attend but still want to help, please consider 'adopting' a client for the summer with a one-time gift of $150, $300 or $450 to supply nutritional support to one client for 1, 2, or 3 months. You may purchase tickets to the event HERE or make a donation online by clicking HERE.

Thank you for your continued kindness,

Sincerely,
Mark Anton
