From the Executive Director

February 2022

This new year is rattling right along, and we're getting closer to our largest annual fundraising event, the fabulous Evening Under the Stars. One very special part of the evening is when we take a moment to turn the spotlight to a few outstanding individuals who have helped make our community a brighter, warmer place. This year we honor Nelda Linsk, Geoff Kors & James Williamson, Aubrey Serfling, and Patti Grundhofer. Please see the story below for details about who each of them are, and why they are so special to me and to our organization.

Also, with each year's Gala comes the traditional keepsake event program, so if you'd like to purchase an ad in the program to give a 'shout out' to one or all of the honorees, please do so. It helps defray our event cost so that more of the income it generates goes directly to our food voucher program. Click here for more info on that.

I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Barry Manilow, whose 'Gift of Love' holiday concerts last December generated funds for several non-profit organizations including AAP - Food Samaritans. Our share of the proceeds from those concerts was $14,615!

Lastly, another of the events that was unable to go forward in 2021 due to the pandemic is the wonderful Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament. It's back this year, February 4 though 6. If you enjoy watching baseball, this is a great weekend activity and it's free to the public. AAP receives the player/team registration fees, so please get out there and show your support. More information is available here.

Thank you so much for your year-round support.

Sincerely,
Mark Anton
